What Version is Right for Me?
FSP WebSite /FAQ /FAQs /What Version is Right for Me?

A picture of myself

The version is different from the edition. Each version of my web sites has the exact same editions, however the difference lies in the content. Currently, there are two versions that work together. For the most part, the information is the same, but one version has added information, and even whole pages and areas that are not available on the other edition.

This is done to protect the interests of children. I feel that in my act of responsible web design, and since I have material that children should not be reading, it is my responsibility to make a reasonable effort to block the site from children. This is done by making a set of domains that would host the material. In addition, the domain name is designed to be blocked from most established URL(T) filtering rules. In addition, ICRA(T) standards have been installed on both sites. The explicit site has rules that ICRA(T) ratings would block from most parental standards.

The general site is located at the domain name of fspws. This is the one appropriate for all ages. Therefore, no material is purposely implanted into this site if it should not be read by children. Since most of the two sites are the same, one database populates both versions. Another database query is done to delete the inappropriate material, and add notations where needed. Also, the few pages that would need changes are performed as well.

The explicit site is located at the domain name of fspxxx which as one can identify has the xxx. Most parents have URL(T) filtering to deny URLs with xxx. With this in mind, a child should not be able to visit any edition of my explicit site since the part that is always constant - the domain name has xxx within it. With the ICRA(T) ratings, this acts as a second line of defense for parents. Therefore, if URL(T) filtering methods are not used, or bypassed, the ICRA(T) would still be in tact. For parents that may trust their children to not visit web sites that are not appropriate, all of the titles of the Explicit site would have the phrase ((Explicit)) in it. The title is what shows in bookmarks, as well as the browser's title when viewing a page.

Parents should keep in mind that I am not responsible for babysitting your children. The above methods used to help you do your responsibility better has been performed, and my opinion, I am acting as a responsible adult by using these measures. In addition, this is more than what most adult web sites would do. If you want to tell me that I would be going to someplace unpleasant, only if you join me. If you want help in advise on how to assure that the methods work well, feel free to contact me.
